How to Create a Concise and Systematic New Employee Orientation Program
Czas i lokalizacja
The European Union Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to a one-day training on how to develop a concise and systematic “New employee orientation program” to introduce new hires to their work and to the organization. The course is designed primarily for managers, leaders, experts who work under the HR department but also managers, leaders, professionals who either construct a new hire orientation program or play one of the roles within the program.
New hire programs have always been crucial to retain skilled and dedicated employees. Nowadays companies that do not have solid new hire orientation programs in place that are addressing the right orientation content in the right format are certain to lose their talents at the outset. There is little hope for those employers for whom term “orientation” means sending new hires to a brief meeting during which someone from HR describes the company’s history, rules, and benefits. Programs that succeed are well planned and thoughtfully organised in terms of format and content to put new hires at ease and familiarise them with the organisational culture and their new work environments. An effective orientation program improves current employee morale, reduces time to productivity, increases employee engagement, prevents future spending on re-hiring and re-training, integrates new hires into the corporate culture, thereby enhancing that culture.
The one day course explores main characteristics and attributes of effective new hire orientation programs and how to organise them in an effective way.
The first part of the course will cover a wide range of topics related to the organisation of the orientation programs such as: things to pre-plan and do before, during and after a new hire comes physically to work, content of the program in terms of agenda, duration, format; methods & techniques that need to be adjusted to the workplace, position and audience; roles & accountabilities of all orientation program stakeholders, instruments & forms to be applied during the process.
In the second part of the course, participants will develop their own specific new hire orientation programs to test them later in their real workplace environments. Participants will be asked to work on the specific existing cases.
The workshop is proceeded by a small pre-work communicated to the participants ca 2 days before the proper workshop.
